Programs

My presentations vary depending on your needs. I will tailor my presentation to suit your group’s or organization’s purpose.

I participate in book signings at library appearances and bookstore events. I am also available for conferences and workshops. My speaking experiences include the WPA SCBWI Fall Conference, The Keystone State Reading Conference, The NCTE Conference, The Coming Together Conference at IUP, The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg’s Children’s Literature Conference, The Christian Fellowship Writer’s Group of Indiana PA, and The Heinz History Center Book Fair.

During the school year, I am available for book signings, conferences, and workshop events on week nights and weekends, as well as some day events. I am available anytime throughout the summer.

For Children

This program is based on my book titled, From Here To There. To begin, I explain that my book is about building a road. Authors write about what they know, and I was once a flag woman for highway construction. Your children will enjoy seeing the equipment I bring with me: a hardhat, boots, gloves, sunglasses, a reflective vest, and a stop/slow paddle. I will ask them questions about highway construction before I read my book. After I read, children will have time to ask me questions. Some children will “become” a flag woman or flag man by dressing up in the construction gear.

For Aspiring Authors

This program allows you as an adult writer to interact with me as an author. You will become aware of how you, too, can achieve your goal of being published. I will share how I came to be a writer. Using a PowerPoint presentation, I will take you and other aspiring authors step–by–step through the process I went through to get From Here To There into the world of children’s writing. This interactive session will inspire you and give you practical ideas on getting on the path to publication.
